Plant Spacing Calculator for Raised Beds

Estimate how many plants fit in a rectangular garden bed using realistic spacing and useful access margins.

Make your plan

Your inputs are processed in this browser. Gardenar does not send or save these calculator entries.

How to use this tool

Bed internal length and width in metres; crop or plant/row spacing in cm; optional margins. Check the units and use measurements from the growing space or instructions for your actual crop or product.

What the result means

Row count, approximate plants per row, total capacity and schematic. The result follows the inputs you provide; it does not replace inspection of your plants or the relevant product label.

Worked example

A 2.4 × 1.2 m bed, with 30 cm row and plant spacing and a 15 cm plant-centre edge margin, gives 4 rows of 8 plants: 32 positions. This is a grid of plant centres, not a prediction of suitable crop yield.

Assumptions and limitations

Not a guarantee of yield; square-foot and row spacing are different methods. This tool uses explicit arithmetic and your inputs; it does not connect to weather, location, product or soil databases.

Calculate integer rows/plants with chosen spacings, margins and bed orientation.
